KCL and PortxGroup: Patrick Terminals introduces 9 Terberg Electric Terminal Trucks with a continuous commitment to create a more sustainable future

KCL and PortxGroup is pleased to announce Patrick Terminal’s deployment of nine Terberg Electric Terminal Tractors into terminal operations in Fremantle, marking a significant milestone in the journey towards a greener and more sustainable future in Australia’s transport sector. The deployment of these cutting-edge electric terminal trucks underscores Patrick Terminals’ commitment to leading the industry's transition to electric vehicles to create a more sustainable future.

Patrick Terminals, Australia’s largest and most innovative container terminal operator, has a long-standing history of driving operational efficiency and embracing innovation. Patrick Terminals continues to invest in technology to elevate customer service experience and reduce environmental impact.

This initiative is further supported by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), which has announced major investments in renewable energy projects within Australia’s transport sector. Patrick Terminals has been awarded $2.5 million in ARENA funding to deploy nine Terberg EV’s. This funding, along with investments from other organizations, demonstrates a collective commitment to decarbonizing transport and exploring new use cases for electric vehicles.

Terberg EV’s offer a myriad of benefits that align perfectly with Patrick Terminals’ sustainability goals. These benefits include reduced environmental impact, lower operating costs, operational flexibility, increased battery capacity, and enhanced ergonomics. The YT200 EV's advanced thermal management system allows for operation in a wider temperature range, making it suitable for various applications worldwide. With impressive battery capacity options and regenerative braking technology, these electric terminal trucks ensure extended operation times and enhanced energy efficiency.

Michael Jovicic, CEO of Patrick Terminals, expressed excitement about the project, stating, “The introduction of electric terminal equipment at our Fremantle operations is an exciting initiative that demonstrates our ongoing commitment to investing capital in our Fremantle terminal to support the longevity of port operations whilst also aligning with our commitment to decarbonising our operations.”
